Modern Foreign Languages
“To learn a language is to have one more window from which to look at the world.” | Chinese proverb

At St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School, learning French helps our pupils to develop curiosity, confidence, and respect for other cultures. Through engaging lessons, songs, stories, and practical speaking activities, children begin to communicate in French and gain an understanding of how language connects people across the world. Learning French supports pupils’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while also strengthening memory and problem-solving abilities.
We believe that learning a language opens minds and hearts. By learning French, our pupils are encouraged to see beyond their own experiences, appreciate diversity, and grow into thoughtful, global citizens.
