Design Technology
“Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.” | Steve Jobs

At St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School, we believe Design and Technology (DT) equips pupils with the skills, creativity and resilience needed to solve real life problems. Through designing, making and evaluating, pupils develop practical skills and technical knowledge across the key strands of mechanisms, structures, textiles, food and electrical systems, in line with National Curriculum expectations.
Our DT curriculum provides pupils with opportunities to learn about a wide range of inventors, designers and engineers, developing an understanding of how design and technological innovation has shaped the past and continues to influence the world today. By exploring historical developments alongside modern design, pupils build a strong foundation of knowledge that enables them to work collaboratively, persevere through challenges and create purposeful products that meet the needs of users.
