Art & Design
“Every child is an artist” | Pablo Picasso
At our school, we deliver a rich and inspiring Art and Design curriculum through the Kapow Primary Art and Design scheme, designed to nurture creativity, confidence and individuality in every child.
From Key Stage 1 through to Key Stage 2, pupils explore a wide range of artistic techniques, materials and styles. In KS1, children begin to develop foundational skills through drawing, painting, sculpture and craft, learning to experiment and express their ideas visually. As they progress into KS2, pupils build on these skills with increasing independence, refining their techniques, evaluating their work and studying a diverse range of artists, designers and cultures.
Our curriculum encourages pupils to think critically and creatively, fostering a love of art while developing their ability to communicate ideas and emotions. Children are given opportunities to explore, take risks and celebrate their unique artistic voice.
We believe that art is a vital part of a broad and balanced education, helping to develop resilience, problem-solving skills and an appreciation of the world around them.
